Urged by his desire and hard-work mentality, Clay A. Butler, after working for two different and well respected law firms, where he garnished valuable courtroom and transactional experience, decided to open The Butler Firm. A client focused law firm in the central Texas area.
Clay A. Butler enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantryman at the early age of 17. It was there that Clay began to learn the underlying principles which helped
construct the foundation of the The Butler Firm into what it is today. Those principles are: Honesty; Organization; and Preparation.
Clay firmly believes that with these fundamental principles along with a strong work ethic and hard-earned experience, success and results will flow down to The Butler Firm’s clients.
Carter Thompson
Carter Thompson comes to The Butler Firm from a background in journalism, and brings his attention to detail, extensive investigative and writing experience, and commitment to serving his clients.
Carter’s past experience has equipped him with the skills necessary to represent family law Client’s skillfully in and out of the court room. Carter shares a passion for family law and enjoys using his abilities to help achieve the best outcome for Client’s of the Butler Firm whether it is in a simple divorce or a complex custody case.
Carter was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Drawn by the music and cultural scene and the Hill County, Carter first moved to Austin in the early 1990s to attend the University of Texas at Austin.
After graduating, Carter moved to Galveston to work as a newspaper reporter. For 10 years, he covered the courts, law enforcement, health care, and the island city’s colorful political scene, winning numerous awards and, more importantly, keeping his readers informed about the issues affecting their community.
Carter graduated from the University of Texas School Of Law with Honors. Carter clerked in the Appellate Division of the Travis County District Attorney’s Office during and after law school, working on dozens of cases including homicides, sexual assaults, and other felonies. Carter also clerked in the Criminal Prosecutions Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office before joining The Butler Firm.
